This shared table creates a platform for emerging artist publishers, independent presses and first-time self-publishers, highlighting the importance of engaging with the publishing community and the general public. Due to limited table availability at Same Page, the Collective Table is designed as a way of including artists and self-publishers who are actively making publications, but may not have enough in-print titles to have their own table at the fair.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The collective table will present publications by all the participating artists/publishers across both days of the fair. Participants will be each allocated a full day to staff the collective table, alongside a few other Collective Table participants.
Participants’ publications will be available to browse and be purchased by attendees for the whole duration of the fair (not just the day they are staffing the table).
CONDITIONS TO PARTICIPATE
Participants will be required to assist attendees with purchasing other publications on the table, not just their own. Each publication will have a bookmark (provided by the Same Page team) with how-to-buy instructions, and we ask participants to ensure, to the best of their knowledge, that these instructions have been correctly followed before handing over stock to attendees.
Participants must be available to physically staff the table during the fair – we are unable to accept applications for publishers who cannot be present in person.
No more than 2 publications can be exhibited per participant.
There is no fee to participate in the Self-Publishers Collective Table. Please note that while we hope to include as many people as possible, participation is subject to assessment by the Same Page team, and applications do not guarantee participation.
SALES AND PAYMENTS
As this is a shared table, unfortunately we are unable to offer cash or card as payment methods throughout the fair, as all payments need to go directly to participants (and having multiple card readers and / or cash floats for every book would be too difficult).
Instead, Same Page will be printing one bookmark for each publication that lists the title, price and how-to-buy instructions, that can include account details / Pay ID for bank transfer OR a PayPal.me link OR a link to your online store in the form of a QR code.
We understand this may not be the smoothest system, but it is the best we can offer to ensure the table is the most accessible to participants it can be, and that all your sales go directly to participants.
